I drew this one earlier in the year, back when I was thinking about my favourite music moments from 2011. Arcade Fire taking the grammy (and the Polaris Prize). Dead Maus being the first Canadian act to headline the Sky Dome. Feist releases spooky new album.

Well, the project ended up getting tabled on my end. But here are the last 3 from the project. I’m looking forward to drawing other things really soon. (I already have a bike themed project in the works and am considering taking some life drawing sessions at the Toronto School of the Arts). But I feel like this project has really pushed me in a good way, and helped me develop my skills.

another option for covering the disk. I think I like this better. it’s more consistent with the apple tree cd cover. I think I will expand this image for the cd’s back cover. this is turning out to be quite the project.

Doing some trial runs for the image that will appear on the actual disk for There Is Not A Snake. The first 3 of these are darn awful. Just goes to show why roughs are so important. Going to explore at least one more option for the disk illustration.

My task over the Christmas holidays is to produce some drawings for Nick’s album. I’ve been stalling on the actual album cover by starting with the illustration for my favourite song- “Isabela Morris”. It’s a song about a sailor who loses his love when he dies at sea. The art was inspired by an illustrated copy of “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” I found at the BMV.

my first thoughts after finding this purse were that it was a poem I had snatched somewhere. put up by some exhibitionist on a cafe bulletin board. or some similar location. with some help from a friend, I was able to realize that it’s actually a setlist from a october show at the garrison. an indie artist showcase put on by live nation. this could be from ostrich tuning or volcano playground.
